GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS O’ GOD MY FATHER,

  1. Great is Thy faithfulness O’ God my Father,

There is no shadow of turning with Thee,

Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not,

As Thou has been Thou forever will be.

Great is faithfulness! Great is faithfulness

Morning by morning new mercies I see

All I have needed Thy hand hath provided,

Great is faithfulness, Lord God to me!

  1. Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,

Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,

Join with all nature in manifold witness,

To Thy great faithfulness mercy and love

  1. Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,

Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide,

Strength for today and bright hope tomorrow,

Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside.

NICENE CREED (ENGLISH):

We believe in one God, the father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only son of the God, eternally begotten of the father, God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten not made, of one being with the father. Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven; by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the father and the son. With the father and the son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one Holy, catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and life of the world to come. Amen.

All:                  Blessed be God forever. Amen

(Then the President takes the offering in his hand and says with the people).

All:               Yours, Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the splendour, and the majesty, for everything in heaven and on earth is Yours. All things Come from you, and of Your own do we give You.

President: The Lord be with you

All:                  And also with you.

President: Lift up your hearts.

All:                  We lift them up to the Lord.

President: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

All:                  It is right to give Him thanks and praise

President: It is indeed right; it is our duty and joy at all times and in all places to give You thanks and praise Holy Father, Heavenly King, Almighty and Eternal God through Jesus Christ you only son our lord, for He is your living word, through Him you have created all things from the beginning and formed us in Your own image. Through Him You have freed us from the slavery of sin, giving Him to be born as man and to die upon the cross; You raised Him from the dead and exalted Him to Your right hand on high, through Him You have sent upon is Your Holy and life-giving spirit, and made us a people for Your own possession.

Through Your Most Dearly Beloved Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who after His most glorious Resurrection manifestly appeared to all His Apostles and in their sight ascended up into heaven to prepare a place for us, that where He is, there we might also ascend and reign with Him in glory.

Therefore, with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven, we proclaim Your great and glorious name for ever praising You and saying:

All:      Holy, Holy Holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are   full of your glory, Hosanna in the highest.

President:        Blessed is He who comes in the name of Lord.

All:                   Hosanna in the highest.

(The congregation may kneel, The President continues)

President:        Accept our praises, heavenly Father, through Your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ; and as we follow His example and obey His command, grant that by the power of Your Holy Spirit these gifts of bread and wine may to us, His body and Blood; who in the same night that He was betrayed, took bread and gave You thanks; He broke it and gave it to His disciples, saying “Take, eat; this is My body which is given for you you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper, He took the cup and gave you Thanks. He gave it to them, saying: “Drink this, all of your; this is my Blood of New Covenant, which is shed for you and for man for the forgiveness of sins. Do this as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith:

All:                   Christ has died,

Christ is risen;

Christ will come again.

President:         Therefore, heavenly Father, we remember His offering of Himself once for all upon the cross; and proclaim His mighty resurrection and glorious ascension. As we look for His coming in glory, we celebrate with this Bread and this Cup His one perfect sacrifice.

Accept through Him our Great High Priest this our sacrifice of thanks and praise, and as we eat and drink these holy gifts in the presence of Your divine majesty, renew us by Your Spirit, inspire us with your love and unite us in the body of Your son Jesus Christ our Lord. Through Him, and with Him, and in Him, by the power of the Holy Spirit, with all who stand before you on earth and in heaven. We worship you, Father Almighty in songs of everlasting praise:

All:             Blessing and honour and glory and power by yours for ever and ever. Amen.

Silence may be kept:

President: The Bread which we break, is it not the communion of the Body of Christ?

The cup which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ?

All:            Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in one bread.

President:       Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,

All:         Have mercy on us.

President:     Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,

All:        Have mercy on us.

President:      Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,

All:        Grant us peace.

PRAYER OF HUMBLE ACCESS: All kneel:

All: We do not presume to come to this your table, merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness but in your manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under your table. But you are the same Lord whose nature is always to have mercy. Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of your Son Jesus Christ, and to drink his blood, that we may evermore dwell in him and he in us. Amen.

President: The Lord be with you

All:           And also with you.

President: Let us pray. As our Saviour taught us, so we pray:

All:            Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and ever. Amen.

President: Father of all, we give you thanks and praise, that when we were still far off you met us in your Son and brought us home. Dying and living, He declared your love, gave us grace, and opened the gate of glory. May we who share Christ’s body live His risen life; we who drink His cup bring life to others; we whom the Spirit lights give light to the world. Keep us firm in the hope you have set before us, so we and all your children shall be free, and the whole earth live to praise your name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

All:               Almighty God, we thank you for feeding us with the body and blood of your Son Jesus Christ. Through Him we offer you our souls and bodies to be a living sacrifice. Send us out in the power of your Spirit to live and work to your praise and glory. Amen.

LITAFI KPIN KEBA NYA SINOD NYA EYA 2018

SYNOD BIBLE STUDY

STUDY (1)

THEME: THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD

TOPIC: OVERVIEW OF THE THEME

TEXT: LAM. 3:23

Aims:

To understand the concept of God’s faithfulness

To trace the faithfulness of God among his people, the Jews.

To Appreciate the faithfulness of God in our faithlessness

INTRODUCTION:

The faithfulness of God is true and has been proven many times. In the Holy scriptures, we can see that God is faithful and His word is true, God cannot lie, nor can He break an unconditional promise, that He says He will fulfill (Hebrews 6:18). Every covenant He made is kept. Every promise or foretelling has or will come true. Testimony after testimony of God’s faithfulness is certainly found throughout the Bible and is still given in testimonies by people today.

Remember that God’s faithfulness is not dependent on man’s faithfulness because even in our faithfulness and unfaithfulness, God is still faithful. It is in His character to remain faithful to His promises.

STUDY GUIDE

  1. 1.
    1. b.The faithfulness of God is starkly evident in His relationship with the  Hebrew/Jewish people. Discuss   this in the light of Zech. 8:7-8, Deut. 7:9.
    2. 2.The prophet described the faithfulness of God as “great”. Lam. 3:23. What do you understand by this concept?.
    3. 3.No Matter how bad we are, what sins we have committed God is faithful to forgive us. Relate this with the passage below and appreciate the faithfulness of God. 1John1:8-9, John3:16.
    4. 4.Identify and discuss some specific areas that showed God’s faithfulness to us as a diocese since our creation.
    5. 5.

CONCLUSION

God is so faithful that anyone who seeks Him can find Him. Faith is a gift, but even a gift must be opened to be enjoyed. As we implement our faith, we begin to realize more and more about God’s faithfulness to us.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Even in our unfaithfulness and faithlessness, our God is Persistently faithful.

MEMORY VERSE: Lev. 23:19.

STUDY TWO (2)

THEME: THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD

TOPIC: TRUSTING AND SUSTAINING THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD

TEXT: 2TIM. 2:11-13; MAL.3:6, LAM. 3:22-13.

Aims: This topic is geared towards achieving the following.

  1. How we can trust in the faithfulness of God.
  2. How we can sustain the faithfulness of God.
  3. How total dependence upon God can sustain His faithfulness in times of despair?

INTRODUCTION

We learn through history that our God has never failed us; One command God often gave the Israelite was”Remember” (Deut.8:2, Isaiah 46:9). When they remembered all God had done for them, they could more easily trust Him for the future. As Christians, we need to consciously and intentionally remember all the ways God has provided for us and delivered us in the past.

With such remembrance, we are gradually building our sole trust in Him for all that He’s done for us and our confidence in Him is sustained, He is not tired of doing good for His children, all He expects from us is undivided loyalty and trusts. What He says He will do He will do. As we see the ways He brings His promises to fulfillment, our trust in His faithfulness grows and is sustained.

STUDY GUIDE

  1. How can we trust in the faithfulness of God when all seemed to be working in the negative: Lam. 3:37, Hag. 2:1-3, Mal. 3:6, Rom. 3:3-4.
  2. The society we live in is so corrupt with all kinds of vices. How can the faithfulness of God be sustained in such an environment? (1Tim. 6:15, 1peter1:16, Lev.19:21Tim. 6:15, 1peter1:16, Lev.19:2).
  3. Jesus fulfilled God’s Promise of a savior. Gen. 3:14-15, 49:10, Psa.110, Isaiah7:44, 9:6-7, 53:4-6). Relate these passages as it will help our understanding of sustaining the faithfulness of God.
  4. Discuss practically how our diocese at Ten years can continually enjoy the faithfulness of God in spite of our frailties, circumstances and geographic location.

CONCLUSION

Just as our trust in other people grow with daily interaction, our trust in God grows the same way. We trust him when we know Him, and to know Him is to trust in Him. When we know Him, we can rest in His goodness, even when we don’t understand the circumstances that seem to contradict it. We can trust that God’ plan for us will prevail (Prov. 19:21). The declaration of prophet Hebakuk is timely for us now Hab. 3:17-19. Let’s read it.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

As a child trust his loving father, we can trust our heavenly father to always do what is right and be sustained in it.
